Ashimba is one of Tanzania´s most talented singer songwriters. He has a passion for intricate and complex compositions. His sound borrows from the West African griot traditions fused with his own unique style of playing and Swahili, and Sukuma compositions. He has toured in Europe several times and just like the rest of the lineup for this edition of THE BEAT, he has just returned from performing at the Bayimba regional festival in Jinja, Uganda.

Mzungu Kichaa is in his final preparations to embark on his European tour this summer with his Tanzanian backing band Bongo Beat. This will be one of his last concerts in Dar before the tour and will showcase some of the new material that they have prepared for the tour.

Afrikwetu band formerly known as Afrikali Band, was formed since 2003 and reformed in 2010. The eight bands members all come from different parts of Tanzania and were initially in different bands and decided to establish a new band to join forces to experience and expand their skills. In their songs they use different languages from various Tanzanian tribes such as Makonde, Nyakyusa, Nyasa, Nyamwezi and Swahili. The group has performed abroad several times and have also won the prestigious Music Crossroads competition.

The Beat is a monthly festival showcasing the best live music from Tanzania and abroad. The festival is hosted by Mzungu Kichaa and features some of the best local and international talent passing through Tanzania.
Triniti (www.triniti.co.tz) provides a relaxed ambience to enjoy good music taking you far away from the cities hustle and bustle, and yet it is still very central.
Entrance is only 10k at the door.
